Alliance Francaise du Maine

Alliance Française du Maine (AFDUME) is a non-profit language and cultural organization dedicated to promoting French language education and Francophone culture throughout Portland, Maine and the surrounding region. As an affiliate of the Federation of Alliances Françaises USA and the Fondation Alliance Française in Paris, AFDUME offers comprehensive French language instruction for learners of all levels, from beginners to advanced speakers. The organization provides specialized French classes for children and adults, intermediate conversation tables, and advanced conversation programs designed to build practical communication skills. AFDUME enriches the Portland community through diverse cultural programming including immersion experiences, French film screenings as part of the Festival Champlain—Maine's only French language film festival—wine tastings, culinary events, and celebrations of Francophone holidays.
